DC has two unique qualities - humid sticky weather and the apparent disparity between the city's rich neighbourhoods and poor ones. Despite being the seat of power in the US, it used to be one of the cities in the US with the highest murder rates. I never saw more uniformed officers, politicians and bureaucrat in one place.The States of Maryland and Virgina donated land which was used to form the federal district. This included the already established settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria. If you are looking for some history and the possibility of spotting some high ranking politician, then the District of Colombian is where you want to go. The area around capitol hill is littered with numerous monuments and memorials which commemorate some of America's greatest heros and other historical events of importance. During our visit here, we had the unique opportunity of visiting the senate hall in Capital Hill (Thank you Susey Davis for making this possible). We definitely had fun in DC, though our stay was short-lived.
